BCM215- Critical Self-Reflection of Comments

In this week blog, I have commented on the three blogs and receive some comment from others. Through reading different students pitch, I had learned a lot about different aspect of game media which can gain and improve my knowledge.

Taylah’s Cuphead-Comment

In Taylah’s pitch, it’s studying the makeup looks by recreating some design elements of 19 different bosses in the Cupheads game.
Although, I have never played and heard about this game, I still able to understand what the game was about because she provides links and video in her blog, it can let me have a deeper understanding.

Taylah had explained that she has a passion for makeup, therefore, she will using TikTok video to recreating the bosses and the characters Cuphead and Mugman’s makeup based on Cuphead game. Also, she explained the relation of her DA idea and game media by using Voice over though the makeup video.

I have given some articles and a cool video to Taylah as references and background research. Since she will be talk about game design, she can review lecture 3 which talk about video game analysis and formal elements also stage performance.

Jacky’s pitch – Comment

In Jacky’s pitch, it’s studying the analysis the game through two different perspectives of Fall guys, from an inexperienced player and experienced player.
Although, I have never played but i know and heard about this game, because this game is so popular recently. I can understand what the game was about and the background because he listed out all the points and contents in her blog, therefore I can fully understand the layout of his video.

Jacky had explained that he formed a group with other student in this project and they will posting video on youtube which talk about a different perspective between the game and non- gamer review. And I suggested that he can talk about the game and level design and look more deeper at the perspective of the designer in this game, which can know more about the ideas and background of the game. This article is talk about the level design through the conversation with the Fall guys game’s developers.

Tori’s pitch – Comment

In Tori’s pitch, she is studying about the microtransactions on League of legends. Although I had never played League of legends, but I do played Arena of Valor before which is very similar to League of legends. In her pitch, she had mentioned the character’s skin of the game since this is the only way to spend money on it. In my point of view, I suggest that she can expend her concept to compare each character’s skin, such as to investigating the impact of game features and content on champion usage in League of Legends. Beside, I had provide a scholar to her which is exactly analyze what lasting impact the free rotation feature and new and updated content of the game.

Since she will be talk about game design, she can review lecture 3 which talk about video game analysis and formal elements also stage performance, it’s made up of script, costumes, makeup, lighting, props and scenery also the formalism which is a type of structuralism that looks at the text as an instance in a larger overarching system.
