BCM325 -The future of social media in marketing ( DA BETA)

In my idea pitch, I expanded on my initial idea. My Digital Artefact is a series of blogs post on WordPress which talking about the predictions about the future of social media marketing in 10-20 years and and compare the social media marketing on Instagram and TikTok in 2019 (Before the covid and current).

To be honest, I am a little bit behind the schedule, therefore I want to cut down some workload. I decided to look into the social media marketing on Instagram and TikTok rather to experience the current social media marketing also one of my peer told me since the market is constantly evolving, just simply calculating the efficiency of new approaches can be difficult. As a result, I’d like to simplify things and adhere to the #FIST principle, so I’ll look at TikTok and Instagram social media ads and compare the two and see what’s changed between then and now.

  1. Hey Jessie, I love the asthetics of your beta video, everything is so clear and easy to understand. I think it’s an excellent idea that you are altering your DA to include TikTok like how I suggested  ! It’s good to see how you’re going to compare the two different social media platforms of TikTok and Instagram and their effectiveness of marketing. The blog topics you have picked are a good fit for this subject’s topic of the Future and I find it interesting how you still compare the difference between pre-Covid compared to now. Through this, I think you can talk about how TikTok as a platform blew up during covid, as TikTok was honestly labelled as “cringe” and for “twelvies” pre-covid but now it’s probably the most popular platofmr at the moment with people relying on it for income and their businesses on this platform. Here are some link that I found helpful which explains why TikTok blew up during covid and how it affected the platform:
It’s good to see that you have a schedule that you’re following, and even though you may be behind at least you know what you need to do next. I also, think that it’s a good idea you are no longer really testing out the platforms for yourself and just doing blogs instead, I think through this you can focus on your blogs and excel with the content within your blogs. The only other suggestion I have for your DA is possibly creating a questionnaire for small business owners on social media platforms so you can hear and understand their experiences of the different social media platforms. I think this can help you with your project but I understand it may be hard to execute.

  2. Hey Jessie,
I think your BETA vide was really well presented and it is such a good idea! I am a big fan of instagram and tiktok and spend a lot of my free time on these apps so I am very interested to see how this goes!

Firstly I think its a good idea to look into why tiktok is such a big hit especially in the younger generations.
First there was vine (which eventually got removed however a lot of people still love vine and reference them in more recent times) then there was Muscially, which eventually got renamed to “tiktok”
I think it would be beneficial to you to look into why this app works so well and why other apps like instagram and facebook have implemented “reels” and similar ways to incorporate the “tiktok” model into their apps to gain more attraction. especially in the older generations for example; My dad has no idea what tiktok is, however he could spend a good while watching reels on instagram of the topics he’s interested in..
heres an article that looks into why instagram chose to launch “Reels”

Another interesting point would be to look at how different marketing strategies work on each app.
Tiktok for example uses the marketing technique of “hauls” so that people can find nice clothes, see what they look like on, see where they’re from, how to accessorise them, etc. where on the other hand instagram just typically posts photos of models wearing these clothes and then either lets their audience enjoy their content or they sponsor their post in order to boost it to a wider audience.
I think when looking into the ways that the marketing between tiktok and Instagram work you want to look at the benefits of both but also understand that some things that work for tiktok marketing don’t necessarily work for instagram marketing.

Here is an article ive found on why people should be posting marketing advertisements on tiktok and its benefits. this article also includes a number of data backed points that I think would be interesting to include in your research.
theres also another article ive found which may be worth including in your DA. it talks about how to become “famous” on tiktok. Whilst all of this information is not relevant to marketing it might be worth possibly writing a guide on how to get more views, intereaction, etc.

Im excited to see where this goes. Keep up the good work!

  3. Hi Jessie, I enjoyed watching your Beta videos, your voice is so relaxing. Your logic is clear and your plan is clear. That’s good.

    Hope it is helpful.

In today’s world, social media has become an integral part of our lives and our daily lives.
Given the importance of social media in consumers’ lives, marketers and businesses are flocking to social platforms in an effort to connect with their target customers. However, there is a content overload on social media and competition is fierce.

In 2021 and beyond, we need to understand social media trends. Nice topic!

I think instant content will continue to be popular in the future.

Instant content is content that is only available for a short period of time and then disappears.
Instagram and Snapchat Stories are perfect examples of this kind of content.

They are short and addictive, and people can spend hours scrolling through one story after another.
This is evidenced by the huge increase in daily active users of Instagram Stories.

Perhaps AI will aid social media marketing in the future. With AI, marketing is becoming more human, enabling data-driven marketers to explore new dimensions of marketing.

Social media marketers can use the fundamentals of AI to understand human psychology and what it means in the real world.
When social media marketing automation leverages AI, it helps to understand and track multiple aspects of user behaviour, such as —

    1. How much time do they spend online?

    2. What social media platforms do they spend the most time on?

    3. What exactly do they use social media for?

    4. What form of content do they consume?

    5. Which products/brands get the most attention on social media?

Once marketers gain enough visibility into these areas, they can combine them with data from past campaigns and then build hyper-personalized marketing messages to ensure success.

    Anyway, keep going!
